Marrakech Tours don’t get much better than this! AXS invented the thought of touring the wonderful city of Marrakech by bike. Our famous Magical Marrakech is a two and a half to three hour long discovery tour of the mystical and magical city of Marrakech. We’ll start this laid back tour at the AXS headquarters and travel through the King’s palace, the Medina, and the Djeema-El-Fna, where we will stop to drink some of the best fresh squeezed orange juice in the world. We’ll also enjoy the history of all natural Moroccan remedies along with smelling Moroccan spices. The Magical Marrakech tour is a great opportunity to see the Koutoubia Mosque and many other historical landmarks that the city has to offer by bike. This tour is interesting, educational, eco-friendly, and most importantly fun.

Night changes everything! This is an all-in start to your evening with biking, sunset, dinner, and the sights of Marrakech. Before setting on your way for your evening with what to do from our crew.  We start our tour at 6 PM from our bike shop at Rue Fatima SYBA in the Southern part of Marrakech near the Royal Palace.   For many years we have shared our knowledge of the Atlas Mountains as well as the City of Marrakech with tourists from around the world.  Even so our crew would get together in the evening on bikes to enjoy the exhilaration of the cool air, the lights and sounds as Marrakech transforms from day to night.  It is a perfect start to a memorable evening.  We decided to test out the night experience with tourists during Ramadan in association with our Argana Association Charity which feeds hundreds each of the 30 nights of Ramadan.  Our guests loved it and we have now decided to make this tour a classic.  After the safety briefing and bike fitting at the shop we roll with you deep through some of the back alleys of our popular neighborhood and emerge into the Agdal Garden.  From here we see a royal history through a series of palaces of kings that have gone before as well as the palace in Marrakech of our current King His Majesty Mohamed VI.  We pass through the famous Bab Agnaou gate near the palace and into the Kasbah to soak in the history of Marrakech.  We stop at a spice shop in this part of town to learn more about how natural products are used in the everyday lives of the Moroccan people and also the history of these products.  From here we will make a stop at the most popular street vendor for hirira to taste this hearty Moroccan soup.  We will then wind our way through the back streets, walking the bikes at places where necessary and emerging into noise, smells and sounds of the Jme El Fna square.  While sipping on a glass of the best, freshest orange juice we will see sights of snake charmers, acrobats, street food shops that fill the square at night and will be etched in your memories.  We will then cross the square and the street for a stop at the famous Koutoubia mosque. Then we’ll head across town to Guilez for a choice of fantastic seafood or tangia.  After our meal we get back on our bikes and head to the Hivernage neighborhood where nightlife flourishes in Marrakech.  After touring the streets we give you the option to drop off here or to continue back with us past the Marrakech Mall and through the well lit boulevard back to the shop.  Price includes all food, bike rental and tour guides.

MAGICAL MARRAKECH TASTING TOUR

Savor Marrakech flavor on the famous Magical Marrakech Tasting tour. It is hard to describe the eclectic combination of sweet, sour, salty and velvety smooth combinations that have made Marrakech a name that has made taste buds water for more than 1000 years! This culinary adventure starts and finishes on a bike to prepare you for your plunge into Marrakech culinary History. This tour offers you the opportunity to sample dishes like tangia and tagine both local Marrakchi specialty meat dishes. You will taste the freshly baked bread also called (houbz) in local dareeja. We will wander through the infamous Jemma El Fna and the Marrakech souqs, while learning about the different food artisans, food culture, and the history of the area. You can see how argan oil is made and learn more about this unique Moroccan oil. All along the way you will be amazed by the variety of tastes from the nuts, to the olives, to the sweet treats. No visit is complete without a visit to a local spice market where we can hear how spices are used in Moroccan dishes plus more!

EASING DOWN THE ATLAS

You will take a scenic drive up to the snow capped Atlas mountains into the Berber life of Ourika Valley. You are submerged in the gorgeous Atlas Mountains with fresh verdant green trees all over and follow our guide exploring the land. This is a laid back biking downhill adventure that is doable for anyone with basic riding capabilities. We have discovered all the roads so you will enjoy many quick descents down a smooth paved road while looking at a majestic mountainous terrain. This is visibly stunning with the vast landscape. You will pass goats, donkeys, and camels as you ride down the mountainside. The grand Atlas Mountains are the colors of the Berbers – reddish and orange earth tones you see adorning the adobe buildings, giving the impression that the entire city springs from the earth. We have spent many hours researching the best tours and paths all through the High Atlas mountains so no matter what or where we take you, you will get worked out in breathtaking scenery. Our AXS support vehicle will always be present for safety. After your classic Moroccan meal of salads, tagines, freshly baked bread, and mint tea you will drive back to Marrakech in our AXS support vehicle.

SCORPION CITY RIDE

The Scorpion City Ride is a great 60 kilometer road ride that is awesome for training and site seeing. Your first 30 kilometers is a gentle sloping uphill towards the Atlas Mountains ahead. You’ll pass everyday life featuring many shops, many animals, and many scents. Your last 30 kilometers are a fast downhill sloping ride that will exhilarate and satisfy your biking needs.

1000 MAD per person if you would like us to pick and drop you at the hotel in Marrakech it will be an additional 200 MAD

ENTER THE ATLAS ON ROAD

Level: Beginner/Intermediate

Bike: SEEK 3

If you have always wondered where the road leads to when you turn off before the village of Asni on the mountain road, you will find out. The signpost says ‘Moulay Brahim’, a village named after a well-known Moroccan Sufi saint. The AXS crew will start you at the top of Moulay Brahim in the Atlas mountains. You will climb roads winding it’s way back and forth steeply up the mountainside and see spectacular views from the top. As you climb you begin to see the snow-clad mountains (seasonal). The valley between you and them is green and verdant until you hit the beautiful Kik plateau. The land has flattened out revealing the most stunning landscape – in part desolate but dotted with the occasional village. You will see for miles across ploughed fields, barren land and terraced escarpments to the mountains beyond – they provide a glorious backdrop to this plateau. This ride provides an equal mixture of uphill and downhill leading you down and around to the infamous lake Lalla Takerkoust. Super beautiful area which is why this is the most requested tour on and off road. We finish with a delicious Moroccan lunch of chicken and vegetable tagine along with handmade baked bread, a vibrant salad nicoise, fruit, and classic mint tea overlooking the mountains we just rocked!

ATLAS MOUNTAIN BASE ROAD RIDE

If you’re looking for a great training ride with some climbing and distance; this is it. This 90 kilometer ride has great scenic views and with the 523 meters of total climbing you get the total package. AXS will keep you hydrated and happy whether you’re doing this ride for training or touring. Come see the beautiful Atlas Mountains for a breathtaking ride.

MARRAKECH TO ESSAOUIRA
A seafood frenzy

Level: Intermediate/Advanced

If you’re wanting to put in some distance and travel to the Atlantic Coast by chance, this ride is for you. We start a bit outside of Marrakech and take this beautiful 160km journey all the way to Essaouria where we will then stop for a fresh seafood meal. Calamari, fish, shrimp, and more will be enjoyed after your ride and all is well earned.  All fish vendors offering their freshly caught seafood, cooked right then and there on open grills, YUM. We then head back to Marrakech or you can ask us for overnight accommodations and make it a package!

THE ZOK TOUR AKA THE OUKA MONSTER

The Zok Tour aka The Ouka Monster is the ride featured in the Marrakech Atlas Etape charity ride. The MAE was co founded by AXS Founder/President Saif Kovach and Mike McHugo of the famous Kasbah Toubkal. This route was discovered by AXS and Sarmad Zok who the tour is named after. It will challenge all who dare to take it on; so beautiful and so challenging. With 2,241 meters of climbing involved with this ride you will no doubt be elated upon completion of this goliath ride. If you are interested in joining us for the actual Marrakech Atlas Etape, join us. This charity ride supports Education for All. Education for All is a Moroccan NGO that builds and runs boarding houses for girls near secondary colleges. This allows girls from rural families to continue their education.
